All of our sessions have varying degrees of hot stone therapy in them. Over the years, I have heard all kinds of comments from new clients. Many of our clients have never had a massage so they are being introduced to massage AND to hot stone therapy at the same time. However, we get the same amount of comments from those who have had hot stone therapy before:
Are Stones Sat On the Body?
We do not sit stones on your body. Most spas around town teach their therapists to perform hot stone therapy the traditional way which involves a lot of placing stones on various parts of the body then doing some massage around the stones. We decided that this method is dangerous for clients since many clients have expressed to us that they have been burned by stones just sitting there like that. This is highly unacceptable. Since we utilize all types and sizes of stones, it is not a good idea to trust that a stone will not overgenerate heat when left sitting on a client’s skin. The way that we perform hot stone therapy is we cool the stones and hold them in our hands and work with the stones to increase relaxation and help in alleviating pain and discomfort. It is both soothing and highly effective and very SAFE.
Is Hot Stone Therapy a Gimic?
No. There are very few massage techniques available that can release a muscle and provide relaxation as quickly as hot stone therapy can. Skilled hot stone therapy is highly effective in providing a super relaxing massage and in dealing with areas of pain and discomfort. The warmed stones also helps with deep tissue work, allowing the muscles to relax which results in deeper work being more effective. So, overall, hot stone therapy is one of the most therapeutic modalities available in the world of massage therapy.
Is Hot Stone Therapy Mostly for the Winter Months?
Hot stone therapy can be fully enjoyed all year long. When clients are undressed on the massage table they can feel a little cool so the warmed stone work is very comforting. Even with two sheets and a blanket most clients still feel cool. The warmth of the hot stones is super soothing and 99% of our clients go on and on about the hot stone therapy no matter what time of year they come in for a session!
Can Hot Stone Therapy Be Done with a Prenatal Massage?
Yes. Hot stone therapy for our prenatal massages is done on a limited basis. The warmed stones are used mostly on the neck/shoulders, lower and upper back, hips, and feet. The hot stone therapy is not as extensive as with a regular massage to a non-pregnant client.
Our prenatal sessions are very safe and we are one of the few offices that offers prenatal clients, not only super pampering, but REAL PAIN RELIEF. Our prenatal clients emerge feeling like a brand new person. We do not do a cute fluffy massage. Since we are certified in prenatal, we are more confident in doing a massage with at least medium pressure and we effectively address all areas of pain and discomfort so our ladies can breeze through their pregnancies in relative comfort.
Is the Hot Stone Foot Massage Only Done With Stones?
No. Our foot massage is called Heavenly Foot Massage and it is performed with much hand work but it is ENHANCED with warm stones. This is super therapeutic and really helps the stress level. We also utilize a therapeutic foot cream so that combined with the warmed stones is very healing and affects the entire body.
With a Hot Stone Massage Are You Massaging With Stones The Whole Time?
No. We do a normal massage but the warmed stones are added in. You are getting the same amount of hand work but we add in the warmed stones to make the session even better. We work with the stones within the normal session in addition to all the other normal bodywork.
